@Captainkt, good luck and experimenting. Just a little hint: sometimes there is no big difference in the power at the inductions plate! When you see the power scale (1-10) you will use more then 1000W at 1 and about 1800W at 10. The plate is working all time with high power, then it is switched on-off periodiacaly when you use temperature, or other scale to control. The simplest way to measure the real input power is the using of a cheap power (consumption) meter on the line side. The output power can be estimated on other way, the simplest is the comparing the light intensity of  the bulb at 230/110V powered version. If there is big diff, than the output can signifinactly lower then the nominal value of the bulb!

@Collapsingfield, thanks for that info will do that. What you are saying is that when the heater plate is saying 200 400 600 ------- 1800 watts etc this may not be so.
