DON'T scrap your devices just yet.....My creation has LIGHT!!!

Ok it resembles something built by Mr Heath Robinson but it lights a 40w bulb with 40 w at this moment. I just had to let you all know because the experiment needs to be "tweaked".

You need to replace the spark gap with a Royer oscillator, circuit below. Use the same 3 turns as before. I am using 60nF capacitor with the primary.

Please let us all know what you find?

BTW. This circuit does not like the voltage to be brought up slowly just hit it straight with 12V min.

Yes it would appear so!!! Any idea why the setup works so much better with a Switch mode bench power supply than with a battery?

I have now got L4 completely disconected. Using a 12 V battery to drive Royer and 2 earth connections, one at Ground side of 3 turn primary. Earth 2 at isolation transformer L3 leg, I have a dim light.
Non of this makes any sense to me as the other end of L3 is open circuit.
