Well, you've heard of the Nazi-lover, Do No(Nowak)?  Does he have friends like the little Grey aliens, who, if they exist(!), and if they have the power, might alter asteroid trajectories with their flying saucers?

Maybe that's why the guy decided to move west of the Mississippi?  The asteroid is actually on the large side of 55' in diameter?  That big of asteroid might survive the astmospheric heating of friction.  But, graze angle is also important.  Falling at 90degs. would force it to traverse 100 miles of atmosphere.  At 10degs., it becomes a lot longer trip to the Earth.  90degs. is a lot worse to have happen.

I don't know, either.  Wait and see.  Oh, luckily, I do live west of the Mississippi.
