I have been looking towards space elevators and solar sailing as a way for mankind to spread out into the solar system and greatly increase economic activity by a factor of 500 or more.I believe it is our hope for the future.I want to be a duty pilot in my next lifetime!triffid

Yeah, that's a concern for some.  Barter is still available, but you're correct:  As you said, you can't carry chickens and hogs in your pocket.     

According to the ron paul hotline the dollar has lost 50% of its value since 2008.Hence the increase in the price of gold and silver.Hence the run to gold and silver by the central banks.

Greed.  I can't eat a bar of gold.  I can make a sandwich if I have the "fixins."

I think most people will survive.Now I do wonder what the people who are building the underground bunkers are thinking?Afterall the idea is to survive whats coming and return to the surface?Isnt it?One has to return to the surface?Right?If harmful UV is what we have to worry about .Wouldnt staying indoors and carrying umbrellas take care of most of that?triffid

I guess the food plants and animals would be affected?So after a while food would get harder and harder to get?One could build up a 6 month supply of food.Just don't tell anyone else.triffid
