Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

Yes, definitely
Possibly, in the long run
No, it will worsen
Undecided

...as an aside... just when is this "disaster" coming? it's been over a year now that you have been saying this.  ...

...note: all of this seems rather political and not economical, isn't this thread about an imminent economic disaster...

...ok chicken little... may your prophecy forever self fulfill. ::)
How about in a few months?

I'm also not the only one who said something similar to the above prediction.  See above. I admit religions use textural material to make their point.  I think it's relevant now, though. The few voice(s) 'crying in the wilderness' have been 'few and far between', but I'm not surprised by Wilby...'s disbelief.  He's like a lot of people, and I don't take him any more seriously than he takes me seriously.

The nuclear/economic disaster in Japan is something as serious as the North African/Middle Eastern revolution in terms of oil.  Both can 'gang up' and 'double team' the world economies to trash many of them with unaffordably high prices and short supplies, both at once, which then spiral out of control in a vicious downward cycle.

Months of this getting worse and worse (very possible, especially in Japan) will, I anticipate, cause the worldwide economy to implode.  As I said before, triffid and I've been saying this for many months.

Can anyone think of a remedy?
I don't agree with some of the chrismartenson article.  Gold and money won't be worth anything if food is gone.  Commodities are very barter-friendly.

I'm merely a theoretical electronics engineer/technician for now, since I have no extra money for experimentation, but I was a professional electronics/computer technician in the past.
As a result, I have a lot of ideas, but no hard test results to back them up---for now.  That could change if I get a job locally in the Bay Area of California.

triffid

I think the planting of secret gardens is a must, learn how to purify water, learn how to make fire without matches.Buy canned foods now,buy candles and matches.Buy stuff now while you still can.triffid

SECRET GARDENS that look like weeds or brushpiles may keep you fed.A regular garden tells other people that food is here and thus you run the risk of other people harvesting your crops before you do.learn what wild plants can be eaten. You can always plant from seed those wild plants that you like.No altered DNA there.Lambs quarter looks like a weed but you can cook it like greens. spinach, etc.Clover can be cooked and eaten although its not really a food that you will gain weight on.Pine tree bark and pine needles will give you some nutrition if you make a tea or soup from it.triffid

I hope that Japan will never goes up from this. They have 》200% debt, it will be hard to. Fukushima was main port...
I finally agree A!  LITTLE!  BIT! with the "bad" Dr. (Nazi Quack) No(wak).

Take a look at this:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Rising-oil-prices-beginning-apf-1311732829.html?x=0

That's not all.  One or more reactors are experiencing ever more physical stress as the sea water which was poured over the cores left tons of oceanic salt behind.  That stuff is really! bad for reactors!  Pouring fresh water over them is a drop in the bucket.  They need several megatons of fresh water in thousands of barges or a pipeline from the nearest river---which they don't have.

This is looking worse and worse.  Rolling blackouts in the Japanese economy is economically crippling, and the low industrial production is affecting the American industries.  (See above.)

I'm concerned about a depression more than the radiation.
