Interesting you should make the connection between scalar EM waves and quartz, magnetohydrodynamic activity, ball lightning.  We have major electrical storms with occasional ball lightning at a riverside family cottage among granite hills in an area known for rich deposits of amethyst, quartz, sodalite.  I believe David Hamel used granite (major constituents: quartz, feldspar and hornblende) to help power his various craft, which as far as I can tell, had propulsion systems employing magnetism and possibly scalar wave conversion to useable energy.  I will only briefly digress to point out the inherent crystalline lattice structure of most metals, and that it was perhaps no accident that Tesla employed a metal collector for his

I understand your intent is to find a way of:

creating a plasma which is insulated from transverse emwaves as much as possible.  If the plasma induced magnetic field density is monitored any coupling with the low frequency scalar waves should become apparent.
