Hi David,

I took some 3/8" dia aquarium tubing and stuffed it with black iron oxide (finally found that a local pottery supply store sells it, so I picked up a quantity).  Taped it end-to end, and wrapped several coils on it to try various strengths.  40 turns, and 120 turns of 22 gauge attempted separately, with nothing notable occurring.  I tried four turns of 10 gauge as well (less turns more current).

I was hitting off a large 12V lead acid battery.

Can you offer a little coaching as to how to get this thing going, as well as which specifics you look for to know its 'on'?  I keep a compass in the middle when I'm pulsing it, and it jumps around as expected, but settles on magnetic north.  I've not seen an effect yet.

Was thinking about stuffing a fisher price toy ring full of oxide.

void...do you have access to a camera with nite shot?...the first video was shot with mostly IR....you might try viewing the device with that...you built and energized your device like i would have.....good work...david
