Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

Item 3a:
"An array of similar things intended for use together"

360 RC tanks with a 1° phase shift intended to be used together to store AC energy certainly matches this definition.

Of course it does not matter what you call it as long as it works. But, since the word already exists and so many people in the world understand the proper use of the term it seemed like a good idea to use the word everyone already knows. Interesting bit of trivia - it was originally named a battery because it is a collective array of cells. Single cell storage devices were called Cells or Accumulators. In fact, we still call them 'C' cells or 'D' cells. Using the term battery is actually an improper use of the word if there is only a single cell involved. FWIW.

A rubber band can store energy, as can a spring, are they batteries now too?  I am just trying to stay current.

LOL - sure why not? You just need at least three working together to be called a battery  :D

"A battery of rubber bands connect the RBM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW6aEmOsXv0) outer rings to its hub and provide a weak but effective demonstration of the thermal contraction of rubber when heated" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_band#Thermodynamics

But to stay current, storing energy is not what makes something a battery - it is the using a lot of the same things together that makes it a battery.  ;)

Your using the wrong definition. It is easy to pick the one that suits your needs.
Your definition relates to a group, such as a battery of tanks.

The electrical definition of a battery is:

An electrical battery is one or more electrochemical cells that convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy.[1] Since the invention of the first battery (or "voltaic pile") in 1800 by Alessandro Volta, batteries have become a common power source for many household and industrial applications. According to a 2005 estimate, the worldwide battery industry generates US$48 billion in sales each year,[2] with 6% annual growth.[3]

as mr.mag already noted, you are cherry picking the definition to suit your needs, while ignoring the definition that actually fits the context of what is being discussed in this thread. here is the definition (from your link) that fits the context:
Quote
6.  Electricity
a. Two or more connected cells that produce a direct current by converting chemical energy to electrical energy.
b. A single cell, such as a dry cell, that produces an electric current.

furthermore, of course it matters what you call it... ::) this is why we have something called language harvey, so we are all on the same page when using said words, as i explained previously... apparently everyone but you knows the proper use of the word. finally, regarding your 'trivia', is there a single cell involved here or are you just spinning off on some irrelevant logical fallacy?
