Title: My improved version of a plasma ball powering a led light with no joule thief.
Post by: stevensrd1 on April 24, 2011, 01:13:26 PM
I made a new video with some pics and schematic of how to power a led light with a plasma ball. This version is improved as it uses no joule thief in the circuit, much easier to make. Best wishes...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znSXB7T1mcY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znSXB7T1mcY)

 I've got several
LED strip (http://www.ledlightssell.com/)  that do over 200 Lumens per watt.  I've got a flashlight that's no more the 3.5" long by less than 1" diameter that puts out around 600 Lumens. As LED bulb (http://www.ledlightssell.com/led-bulbs-c-201.html) usual a lot of people making claims of very efficient circuits but as yet not led flood light fixtures (http://www.ledstrips8.com/outdoor-led-lighting-c-11.html) even one genuine self-runner that anyone even with very good skills can replicate,
let's hope the new year will be different.

Yes been playing around with the higher watt leds as well, perhaps thats where it all goes. As to replications, I have no idea, I know its not sheer will power making such work. But have found it takes alot of patience and fiddling around to get something running over the top. Look at my recent additions, well least not to far back anyway. I got a motor to run on water, which has been running over a year now,,yes I do have to add water as it evaporates. I got a watch running on water around half a year now,,it runs 3 or more months sometimes, then I must add a little water. I got blinky running now on water and on live cam,,no idea how long I can keep blinky on cam,,will try a while tho. Thats led lights powered by water, the live cam to blinky is http://blinkyblue.zapto.org (http://blinkyblue.zapto.org)  Where it all goes,,or who replicates no idea. But such is easily possible for sure.

MOST Plasma Balls will light up a Long Fluorescent Bulb.

1.  Wrap a piece of aluminum foil around about half of the Plasma Ball.

2.  Hold the Fluorescent Bulb in your hand & touch one end to the Aluminum Foil on the Plasma Ball.

3.  If you want it brighter, connect the Other End of the Bulb to ground.

4.  No diodes or capacitors needed.
