This is a thought experiment on the use of magnets to achieve an overunity condition. There is nothing magic here, only a thought process on the mechanical movement of magnets. I’m not introducing any equations here to prove what I want you to see, it will simply be by obvious knowledge that we all have gained through life’s experiences.
We know that when a magnet is hanging from a string with no other forces acting on it, except gravity; that it requires, at best, just as much (or more) energy to raise it a hypothetical distance of one meter as we could possibly regain from it falling a distance of one meter. The magnet might as well be just a simple weight in this condition.
Next, consider two magnets, one firmly affixed to the ground and unmoving, the second again hanging directly above as before with the same forces on it. In this case, as the hanging magnet slowly lowers the force of attraction increases between the magnets. This force will increase until it is greatly stronger than the force of gravity. With Super-Magnets the forces become incredibly huge. If the magnets are lowered until they touch the forces between Super-magnets is so strong that you will not be able to physically directly pull them perpendicularly apart without using tools or a great effort.
In this case we find that what is needed is to move these magnets sideways from each other in order to separate them. From this we can conclude that by moving sideways it requires less energy to separate the magnets than when they are pulled directly away from each other. Now say this top magnet is moved sideways enough to allow the forces between the magnets to fall to a miniscule level. If the bottom magnet is now flipped (which should require little energy) and the top magnet allowed to swing back in a controlled manner, the now repulsive forces should assist in raising the top magnet back to the original height.
So the two possible areas of energy gain are from the magnetic attraction as the magnets come together but are much more easily pulled apart sideways, and the assistance of the repulsive forces of the magnets as the top magnet ascends.
My thoughts are to take advantage of these energy gains to turn a generator of the way down. Perhaps I missed a possible energy loss that erases these gains. I know the magnet must be kept from flipping in some mechanical way. This could probably be solved.
I am opening this up for deep criticism of my idea here. Otherwise, lets discuss possible mechanical setups.
Thanks very much for your interest

interesting, by default every troll would say : 0 outcome
Maybe if you do it right....
I believe your premise has been proved and documented on the net. Possibly on JLN's site. It's the mechanism that's the rub. My good friend had an uncle with a motor that self ran on that same principle but the uncle died long before I knew my friend and he was only seven or eight at the time.

Maybe this is a start? The two magnet disc is sliding with respect to the piston type magnet.
Thanks Gerry,
I appreciate the reply and a type of starting point. This setup that you drew does not take advantage of the gravity portion of the pull, which, though small in comparison to the magnetic attraction/repulsion, is where I believe the energy gain will be from; but I see what you are trying to do. There will need to be a circular type of motion in order to perpetuate and repeat the process.
Let's look at this for a bit and see if modifications could be added to somehow take advantage of gravity while retaining the circular aspect.

Wow, simple. Thanks Garry. Good starting point.
All that's needed now is the circular engineering. Maybe just turning your diagram sideways and setting up a timing mechanism? I see those ideas from 1998 posted there. None must have been able to work.
There is probably something that I am missing that would cause the energy gain to be nullified. Just like all other magnetic motor ideas before.
