I have designed a 7 plate gap parallel cell. I have been told on several occasions not to use a PWM, but rather use a DC to DC converter.
So my question is why? Shouldnt the parallel cell work just the same as the series cell with neutrals? I can understand it will go into thermal runaway without some way of checking it, via a PWM or source voltage, but I dont understand why I would loose the magic smoke I cant put back in my PWM.
Can anyone explain? I dont mix my electrolyte hot, 2 to 3 teaspoons per gallon max. If I use a DC to DC converter at 2.4 vdc with a 30 amp maximum, wouldnt the cell just keep climbing as it heats up till it blows the converter, although it may just happen slower than straight battery.
I have a PWM that is adjustable from 10 to 30 hz or Khz, I dont remember, its a 70 amp unit with dual fans. How would I hook up a DC to DC converter with it? Or would the PWM just be eliminated?
