Title: Iron powder cores - I have finally lots of them...
Post by: Low-Q on May 22, 2012, 09:28:49 AM
Hi,

I will experiment with these cores in a pseudo solid concept explained by Butch in another thread.

If anyone needs iron powder cores to their magnetic tricks please let me know. See picture for reference.

Nice lot.
How much for each one are you selling them for?   Any specs?

They are for free, but you can't take all, and you have to pay for shipping in advance, and I must also kindly ask you to post your project at overunity.com. It is however not required :-) 10pcs would be fine. I must have some left for myself too... It is not thousands - it is 235 pcs in that box. I can get some bigger cores and discs as well if my boss have a nice day tomorrow ;-)

Size of the current cores is diameter 14mm, lengt 25mm.

Nice, what's their permeability? Do they stick strongly to a magnet?

They sticks nicly to a magnet. Hard to release from a neodymium magnet. I don't know what permeability there is on these, but they are suitable for low distortion audio coils which needs low DC resistance and high inductance, so I guess the saturation point is quite high. The cores are also non-conductive.

Regarding shipping of these cores. A letter up to 1kg and 2 to 7cm thick costs approx 25USD outside Europe, and â,¬15 inside Europe. The weight of each core is approx 27 grams.

Edited the pricing because I was looking at the wrong product in the postal service price list.
