Title: Casimer Force-1/4 wavelength infrared capture
Post by: sparks on July 27, 2012, 01:45:06 PM
The original experimental evidence which has been attributed to zero-point energy access is simply because you have two metal plates that are are charged by electromagnetic energy in the near-infrared bands. The metal plates seperated at a quarter-wavelength of near-infrared act as a simple dipole antennae.  The resulting electrostatic field between the two plates then result in columb forces and the cavity collapses.  If the plates are not allowed to collapse by a thin film of dielectric then they act as a simple capacitor and emf develops across them.  This is also the mechanism that is now limiting the minaturization of the transistor as infrared is captured and converted to electric fields that flip or flop the gates and is how a coral reef stays warm.  The coral is continually converting emradiation  to  rf currents.
Ever notice how radiant energy warms you to the bones.  It really does because our skeletons form the same cavities as the coral.

so the more microporous we go with our semiconductors the more dark current we generate, interesting indeed.
