We lost Neil Armstrong today. Neil was the first man to walk on the moon. I always wanted to meet him but, never got the chance. If anyone ever doubts how cool this guy was under pressure....check out the "Flying Bedstead" video where he was using a training vehicle to practice the lunar landing and was about 1.5 seconds from death when it malfunctioned.
Godspeed and rest in piece Neil.

Yes, or the footage of the last 60 seconds before touchdown. Heavy stuff with the fuel allowance actually run out,
if I recall correctly.
In an interview in the 80s, someone asked when his famous "one small step...l" statement was composed. He replied
that since he reckoned that the likelihood of actually saying it was so slight, in reality, it was composed during the
time between landing and getting out of the vehicle.

Paul:
Yes, exactly. When the 30 seconds fuel alarm went off, they were no where near a safe landing area....then the 15 second alarm went off and Neil found a good landing spot and set it down. I remember reading Buzz's account of those last seconds...I believe he said it got a little dicey toward the end, ha ha. I would have pissed my pants.
