Title: Mechanical " hamster"...
Post by: iacob alex on March 13, 2013, 10:22:20 AM
....spinning in a cage , as a concept design,at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCE_xM-f-Xs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCE_xM-f-Xs)
and a resembling tumbling performance,at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQCz9vRdmN8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQCz9vRdmN8)
Their common design: lever,fulcrum,two masses.

You forgot the energy which the "hamster" (the man risking his life in the contraption) puts into then system.

In the video with the "two green white disks carried by a cog wheel" you should put a motor (common axle with the cog wheel and the green white disks), then it will work.

But of course, you could just ask the poster "circle", because he knows the secret of the Bessler wheel. But "circle" is not able to demonstrate it (which is a minor unimportant detail).

.....can be , in my opinion , a minimized gravity motor concept (first lines).  Non multum , sed multa...
In this manner , we have a single problem to solve ,that of the mobile mass ("hamster") ,due to gravity and rotational inertia ,only.

.....can be imagined as a diversity of motion.
Take a look at : www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LCjRXAO7NE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LCjRXAO7NE)
A metronome is a swinging counterweighted pendulum (fulcrum,rod/lever,fixed mass/pendulum and moving mass/inverted pendulum).
We can imagine a continuous rotating metronome ,due to a torque difference on the same side of the bearing,..if the counterweight (mechanical "hamster") is  moving to and fro....
...but to get a "self" to and fro ,we need to find an "equivalent " motion.

A metronome has a source of energy.

It has a spring to be wound up like a clock, or a weight which is lifted and sinks slowly down. Modern metronomes have a battery.

 Hi Conrad !
Nothing new...
My proposal was to keep in mind the "leverage skeleton" of a metronome (fulcrum, lever, two masses),only...and to play them ,so to get self motion due to a continuous unbalance/gravity fall and rotational inertia. That's all starting idea...nothing more.
Or,try to move your body on  a seesaw ,with a "sleeping "partner ,so to obtain a continuous rotation...without some visible "help"(spring..battery).
Some persons needs an another "self"...to understand the "self-motion" due to gravity fall and rotational inertia.
