That would be awesome.   I just wonder if it's another tech that will fade off into the Netherland of great inventions which never make it to market.

Yeah, it's a bummer that the Netherlands is where all great ideas go to die.

Euro-trash bastards.

???

QuoteWhich brings us neatly onto the University of Illinois' battery, which has a higher power density than a supercapacitor, and yet comparable energy density to current nickel-zinc and lithium-ion batteries.

The battery might find some niche applications that require short bursts of high power.  If the recharge time is super-fast that would be a big improvement.  But the energy density is no higher than current batteries.  The guy writing the article goes off the deep end when he talks about cell phone batteries being thirty times smaller - that makes no sense.

The sugar based battery has more energy density and can be made and disposed of very safely I do not understand why we are not developing this if I had a way to superheat sugar and build my own batteries I believe I would be doing it like now everything in this battery is earth friendly I just don't get why scientists are not pushing for this tech until they have breakthrough .... Energy storage and energy generation are the next be logical steps to evolution.

I think this just further drives home the idea that the geometry of your electrical systems place a huge role in the performance. They specifically mention that the basis of their findings is in the surface area of the anode and cathode, which is from the geometric structure

All the mainstream scientists think that everything depends on chemical reaction. I bet if they got more creative with the geometry of their designs, like using hexagon structures for one, and continued to follow the data we could be well behind this kind of battery in no time.

We have the capacity to make a friggin sci-fi world right now I tellz ya!

Your ignorance on the matter is understandable, but hardly forgivable.

You clearly have access to the internet.  Educate yourself about these things while you yet have time to come to a greater understanding.
