Hi I came across this article today and thought this might fire up everyone's imagination who works with magnetic devices be it solid state or mechanical. I posted this on our news site. It may amount to nothing but it sure opens a few cans of worms.

There seems to be a misunderstanding about "switching the magnetism (in graphene) on and off".
The magnetism (in graphene) can not be switched on and off on the fly, it has to be done during a production process (namely by "doping", introducing atoms, namely HNO3, into the lattice of graphene). So, after this "production process" (after doping graphene with HNO3) the magnetisation can not be reversed or altered.
The idea is to produce a foil which is more or less magnetic. And after it is produced (doped) the magnetic properties are fixed for ever.

@conradelectro
Many thanks for correcting me on my mis-understanding and assumption.
Many other companies and institutions have already accomplished the doping feat.
One of my side interests is flipping magnetic poles with minimal energy...along the lines of Floyd Sweet claimed.
Kind Regards
Mark
