well, I guess it's not animated on this site, so here is a link to the youtube page where it is animated:

Nice work on the animation.  Why would it not just "stick" at the first set of magnets that it approaches?  What would make it continue on?  I suppose I am not clear on your concept.

Thanks,

Bill

It would work on the same principle as in these videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo2-Qb3fUYs

but both ways, maybe each of the magnets on the end should be turned up on it's side so that only the proper polarity is within range as it swings back

I appreciate your input,

Billy

@william_mills:

Hey, nice experiments! I like what you are exploring. Keep it up and continue to post here as you move along.

I'd like to see you get a "self-runner" going. . . .

Thanks for the encouragement, unfortunately it is unlikely that I will be able to build one of these in the foreseeable future for various reasons, that's why I am hoping to inspire someone else to build it..........they can have the money, I would just want the credit (in the form of a certain "Nobel Prize" would be nice.......hey, A MAN CAN DREAM!).

I have made a new animation which is a little closer to what I think the device will look like:
