Attached is another document from Lawrence Tseung(pg 15). It goes into the story behind it's creation and hardships of the inventor.
What is glossed over in the patent is the use of a ferrofluid. The ferrofluid is created to have a slight lag behind the magnet which offsets(tilts) the rotor slightly.

ferrofluid does seem that it could be helpful.
flow rate could be controlled by viscosity, strength of fields and surface area dimensions.

Very nice job on the 3d printed replication. I am not really sure if this motor ever really worked but your replication appears to be very accurate to me.

yes agreed, those were some decent results that are like store bought components.
even if its 1st use was not a successful 'self running' generator. can't knock anyone for trying, in fact it deserves a salute!
it would be nice to have a 3d printer.
just ordered a arduino reprap based 3d printer kit minus the motors and structural apparatus for about $100.
probably could have made it easier on myself though and just spent more money upfront.
figured beyond any headaches it could result in, it will give me something to do and might learn a few more things at my own rate going this route, and get to recycle some other stuff in storage.
Apparently Shun Ho was involved with a parlor trick where he flipped a bar stool upside down
into a bowl of (special?) vibration canceling hydraulic fluid. Then had four strong Chinese guys grab
a hold of one leg each of the stool. The four guys had approximately the same strength and were
told to go at it. The legs on the stool then vibrated back and forth by the men. This produces a
"hand magnet" type vibrational force on the bar stool.
But the amazing thing was the stool *rotated* in the bowl with a force even though none of the men
were pushing it in that direction!. Shun Ho was smart enough not to get hung up by the "hand
magnet" vibration logic and stated that it was amazing that the chair tried to rotate with no forces
in that plane. What makes sense is that the vibration damping fluid was taking directional forces
is the xy plane and translating them a rotational force in the z plane where they can "damped out"
or brought out of the system as rotory power.
Pictures and other information seems to indicate that the magnetic rotor vibrates then that is converted
into rotary motion by the the specialized hydraulic damping fluid in the bowl. I've seen pictures with a
heavy unbalanced cam looking device that sits in the fluid but is attached to the motor rotor.
