What could make this idea unworkable?

First of all, as soon as the motion starts, you can clearly tell by the shadow that there is a person who is rotating something above the device. A part of said device is CLEARLY visible at about 1:05 at the very top of the screen near the middle of the person standing there, and when the "device gets stopped by the guy in the black shirt" there is a VERY clear shadow on the wall of a persons arm, and then they move out from the path between the overhead light and the wall (thus no longer casting a shadow).
But I guess your whole scheme to get views is the whole "figure out how we faked it" ploy.

No, it's probably being rotated simply by a motor in the thick base. Veproject1 and the associated Munchausen are _educational_ projects that are creating _models_ of many historical and postulated or claimed Perpetual Motion Machines. There is no subterfuge involved, all you have to do is a bit of research. Go to Veproject's website and you will learn a lot.
I respect these people's work a lot, they have made many ingenious models. I especially like their "Redheffer Perpetual Motion" model of the famous historical device that had many people fooled at the time.
Brian I think you have the wrong attitude about Veproject1. They are not pretending to have actual working perpetual motion machines... never have claimed that at all. They are model builders of great skill and imagination... and are very -educational- indeed. Please don't misunderstand what they are doing!

Also, it says clearly on their site, that this is for educational purposes and the devices do not work. Somehow, a lot of folks miss this.
How many of their videos have we seen posted here (Not by Veproject1) with claims by the poster: "Here it is, free energy is real, what will the naysayers say now?" (Fatbird comes to mind)
Some of their devices show great craftsmanship and ingenious engineering.

Interesting, but who is blowing air on this device? Look closely at 56-57 sec.
