Title: Inverter kit help please?

Hi, i bought a chinese 2000w inverter kit from Ebay. I did put it together as soon as it arrived, but i was under the impression that there were parts/components missing and i almost forgot about it, until now. 
I think it is working, but i dont get anything more then about a couple of AC volts out of it when i connect 12 volts dc to it.

I should post a picture of the board becouse it doesnt say anywhere the DC input should be connected, instead is say that you should input 16 volts AC.
Also there is a input for 360 volts dc, but i want to input 12v-

Could someone please shed some light on this then i would be very greatful. :)

looks like a dogs breakfast to me.
12v at 2000 watts requires some heavy cable, i don't see any in the pictures.
if your not at least in route to be a tech i think you should pass.
lots of RV or solar power inverters to be had with clear docs.

Thats a control board for an inverter, not an inverter in it's complete form.

I got it now that it probably is for solar or something.

Ok, i didnt realize that. I have not researched power inverters before, so i am going to study it a little bit more.

I would rather build this from scratch, there are some simple schematics, eg. by Colin Mitchell's pdfs, 1-100 Transistor cirquits and 50-555 cirquits, free ebooks.
In the end it comes all down to some tip power transistors with appropriate cooling, which you can do very well by using some salvaged cooling bodies and a pc fan maybe.


Frequency stability may be not the best, using the 555, but for simple tests, not involving frequency-sensitive devices, it may work just fine. So you'll get your inverter for like 20 bucks.

I just see those Transistors deliver only like 110W. So you'd need like 20 or even 40. This is not my field of expertiece, but there may be better/cheaper ways, like some power mosfets or something.


What are you going to do with 2000W anyway? ^^
