In my opinion, the strangest thing about this technology was not the concept but the fact that 99% of people couldn't understand it. I mean it's just a propeller pushing against the wind driven by some wheels but almost everyone got the concept wrong... that's mind boggling.
Not to mention the fact that a physicist who is supposedly an expert lost $10,000 to Vertasium because he was wrong. It goes to show that most people including the supposed experts have perception problems with respect to relative motion and energy. Personally, I found peoples reaction to the technology much more interesting than the technology itself.
As well, the Veritasium video's never did explain the concept to my satisfaction nor any other literature. I will break the problem down...
1)The ground speed of the craft drives the wheels.
2)The wheels turn the propeller which pushes air backwards against the wind.
3)The propeller air moving backwards against the wind brakes the wind speed to zero converting it's velocity/momentum to pressure.
4)The pressure zone is the force acting on the propeller driving the craft forward not the wind velocity.
5)The craft can exceed the down wind speed because the propeller is acting against a pressure zone moving with the craft
at whatever speed the craft is moving.
What throws everyone off is Energy and relative motion because we have multiple motional elements acting simultaneously.

Therefore we have thing 3 acting on thing 1 which produces thing 2 which acts on thing 3 thus 4 causing it to move faster producing more thing 3 acting on thing 1. All are variable, relative and in motion...

The craft forward velocity drives the prop, the prop air acts against the wind creating a pressure zone, the moving pressure zone drives the craft forward... repeat.
There must be an energy balance whereby the increasing groundspeed increases prop speed enough to brake the wind and
generate enough pressure to overcome drag. So this isn't perpetual motion or OU... it's just science.

This device was described by both Archemedes and Da Vinci.
It functions perfectly when the leveraged torque (gear ratios) are in the proper proportions.
Our modern understanding of wind / wind speed (the simplified equation) only takes into account a surface with a low
aerodynamic coefficient. Meaning one which it's movement (upwind) is greatly restricted by the
force of the wind.
When a propeller is designed to have a lot of pushing power, and the craft is highly aerodynamic:
The pushing force becomes more prevalent than the resisting wind.
This is emphasized by the gear ratio at the drive wheels.
Also - wind hitting the back of the propeller assists the rotation.
Place 2 fans one behind the other.
The front fan consumes less electricity, yet the wind output is more than 2x one fan.

upon some other aspects. They all failed / were unclear in their explanations,

Supposing we set up such a wind turbine on the roof of an electric car, with the turbine generating LX which is fed back to the car's batteries.
I would like to see a set of graphs of the parameters involved for the various velocities involved, and the various angles between the wind direction and a datum, along with the car's direction and the same datum.

It is just that I'd love to see the equations and the curves. I'm looking to convert a small car by replacing the rear wheels with wheel hub motors. The coefficient of drag will sky rocket but the benefits might out weigh this when we bear in mind that the turbine will contribute when in traffic jams or doing the shopping. In general, for conventional motors of 1 HP and 3 HP, the power consumptions are 746 W/H and 2238 W/H. These motors can be operated at high speed with low output torque or operated at low speed with larger torque, no matter how it operates, the power consumptions thereof are respectively 746 W/H and 2238 W/H.
In comparison, when a DC 12 V mini motor with full load capacity 25 g, 560 mA, running at 13340 rev./min is used, a plurality of such motors can be assembled and operated in association with a suitable number of down-speed gear sets so as to obtain proper operation speed.
The power consumptions thereof in the same conditions as above, are compared with the conventional motors to conclude that at most only one eleventh of the power consumed in above cited motors is required.

Mr. Jakelj was born and lived most of his life in the resort town of Kranjska Gora, in the present Republic of Slovenia, at one time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and later part of Yugoslavia until its dissolution in the late 1980s. Kranjska Gora is near the Italian and Austrian borders and is famous for its fabulous skiing facilities. He was educated and worked as an electrical engineer and had the professional title of "Elektromeister," the equivalent to a Master of Sciences in Electrical Engineering. At an early stage of his career he began questioning the accepted theoretical principles on which the design of electric motors is based, concluding that they were erroneous.
After many years of research, after his retirement he wrote several treatises on the subject and submitted them for publication to the various European professional and scientific journals. However, his work was usually either ignored or rejected without explanation.
In order to prove his theories Mr. Jakelj designed and built his magnetic motor.
After successful testing he was still unable to interest any major industrial corporation in exploiting the tremendous advantages of this invention. He then turned his attention to another motor design, called the "transreactance motor," which I also intend to build and develop industrially.
Franc Jakelj died in 1997 after many years of severe cardiac disease.
To date no one has attemped to continue his work.

Think about that...
Millions of intelligent people, engineers, scientists and even physicists failed to understand a relatively simple device having only a few basic components.
This goes to show that most people are okay with something they can google or find in a book that is known. However the down wind faster than the wind fiasco is proof most do not have the capacity to wrap there mind around truly new concepts.
The fact remains that if 99% of people cannot even understand a simple wind device then free energy will continue to elude them.

Absolutely. I have in mind a Japanes kei car, e.g. the Suzuli Alto (maybe an oldish Peugeot 107, possibly with a blown engine or gearbox, dead cheap). The turbine would be steerable, might fold flat, or even a Savonius type which involves different maths. It would be good to have ammeters on the turbine cct as well as the motor circuit to get a feel for what is going on.
