Title: More space without big borders..
Post by: hartiberlin on June 26, 2007, 09:48:27 PM
I just edited the forum software to remove the big left and right borders,
now we have more space and also people with lower res displays should benefit from it now.

If you still have any problems now, please post a reply here.

Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.

Yes, I wanted to do this already a few weeks back,
but always had no time to look deeperinto this
and this was no easy editing, but a severe hack of the template PHP file,
so I had to have a lot of free time to fiddle around and checkout the PHP code...

Now I have found a solution.

Glad you like it.

Regards, Stefan.

Hi Stefan:

I have a request. Can you make this beautiful pendulum clock OFF by DEFAULT please!
It's very annoying to have the 'chimes' every 15 minutes, culmulating in the chimes according to the numerical value of the hour clock!

When I was new to the forum, I had the web page minimised so I can have my Messenger/GTalk apps. visible in the corner and for a long time I could not find which clock application made that @#$@$ sound!

Sorry about the rant. Thanks

Cheers
chrisC

You can turn off the cookoo clock yourself by pressing the Minus button
at the right top side of the clock.

Stefan:

Yes, we know we can do it manually but it's really a nuisance to have to do it manually everytime when we open a browser to the site. Do you really think it is such a good idea for hear this cuckoo bird every fifteen minutes? It drives me NUTS!

Thank you.

No,
it is stored inside the cookies.
If you use Firefox it is automatically closed,
if you browse overunity.com
Also you can additionally disable the right frame by pressing
the R- at the right top.

Regards, Stefan.

Thanks Stefan. I guessed it's really not that important. Unfortunately, for security purposes, I have to clear my cookies from time to time and that's why it becomes annoying! Sorry, I won't waste any more forum space. Thanks again.

hartiberlin,
On my display (1024x768)
"Members" and "Logout" items do not fit if right adjusted.

Main menu left adjusted is more reasonable.

Yes,I saw that now also on 1024x768.
Will have a look at it later next week,
when I have more time.
Just log in and then it is less visible for now.

Okay, now all borders have been gone and also the distance from
posting author to subject was shortened, so also users
with only1024x786 screen size have now more space
and can better see posted pictures, etc...

Also the left and right ad blocks were reduced to 130 pixels width
to not consume so much display space.

To see the changes, please delete your browser cache.

Hope this helps.
Regards, Stefan.
