Title: Video conference on www.ustream.tv and Skype
Post by: hartiberlin on July 30, 2007, 02:31:21 AM
Hi All,
maybe we can soon do again a streaming video conference,
when Jason has again more time after his exams and he can use
then the www.ustream.tv
Flash based webcam setup to broadcast to ALL of us his setup
and we can then chat together via a Skype audio conference.

Last time we did this, we used a different webcam
software, which was very slow, but
ustream.tv is much better.

So everybody could then see the live video
in his browser and could use Skype additionally
to talk back to Jason.

So I am looking forward to this
and maybe  a few others of you also want to get
already a free account at ustream.tv to
broadcast their setup live to the others.

Regards, Stefan.

Here is a test to embed 2 live broadcasts from ustream.tv into a window over here.

We could do it the same, if some members would be broadcasting at the same time,
so we could see each other...
and the audio could be done via a Skype audio conference.

I could also embed several more cams here.
I could also setup a different page at overunity.com
not located inside the forum to have more screen space and to not have any borders at all..

As long as we don?t yet have a multiuser Skype Video conferencing,
this would probably be the easiest solution.

Hi Harti:
Well have had a lot of fun watching the vids. Not sure who the top one is but really like pirillo. Good for a laugh along the way. Classic techno geek. I get audio from pirillo but not sure if any is coming from the other. Great idea as for whats going on here. Would have to reinstall my vid capture and ccd to transmit from here tho.
   All in all, great idea.

@thaelin
the bigger video has no normally no audio,
but it depends on the broadcaster, who enables his audio.
I can scale up the video size to any size I wish with the embed code.

These are only 2 examples I just picked to see, how it works.

If anybody finds a free or shareware plugin for Skype for multiuser Video conferencing
we could also use this, but for the moment we could just use the free ustream.tv
offer.

If some of you register there and let meknowyour userpage at ustream.tv
I will design a new page at overunity.com where I will embed your
ustream.tv embed code and then when we start a videoconferencing session
everybody can call up this page and we can see and hear each other.

For those, who only have audio, we can additionally use a Skype audio conference,
so all can hear each other. We did this already with Jason and Giantkiller and a few
others with a different webcam software, that was too slow, but the Skype audioconferencing
did work very well.

So all of you, please register freely at ustream.tv and post your userpage here and I will
make a new page and embed your code into it.

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

Hey Stefan,

I think the video conference page is a good idea. I'll take a look at the site and setup an account. I'll let you know when I do.

God Bless,
