hi members, i have a few questions regarding magnets.
Does anyone basically know the strength differences in neo magnets, compared to the distance they are to each other when poles are opposed..
e.g., a neo magnet with a 2cm squared surface area on the poles may take 25 kg to push the poles together, the imformation i am needing is if they are 1cm apart what would the amount of force be, and how the force increases as they get closer to each other.
Another question is, if i have a magnet, say a 5cm long rectangle shape with the poles on each end, what happens to the poles if i place 20 of these magnets side by side.(Not pole to pole).
Assuming these magnets are 5cm long with a 1cm by 1cm pole on each end, and placing 20 of these side by side would now be like a 5cm by 20cm by 1cm magnet, would the poles still be on the original ends of the 5 cm height, or will they now change and be on the opposite sides of the 20cm length.
Thanks.
Hi Nirvana:
First thing you must realize is that it is going to be one heck of a fight getting them all side by side. Remember, like poles repel. I have some neo's half inch long and half inch diam and they will lift fourty pounds. I believe they are N36 grade.

Good question nirvana. The neo magnet sellers seem to promote only the holding power but I'm sure they would have the numbers for pull and push strength at distances. I have not been able to find one but I would like to see a graph for both attraction and repulsion. Hopefully, a group member will be able to help.
