Title: New animation uploaded !
Post by: hartiberlin on June 08, 2005, 06:51:51 PM
Hi all,
I did get from Butch a new animation and I converted it down to
a smaller AVI file with the same resolution.

It is the animation Sam started.

here is the final rendering:

http://overunity.com/lafonte/newrotor1.avi

It is about 1.4 Mbytes big.

Rightclick and "Save targe as"
to save it to your harddisk.

Regards, Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

The position of the holding rotor is incorrect. It will sit just at the end of the magnet array with maybe a very tiny part sticking out over the end. You need to model the total array field and not assume the array will act the same as a single magnet.

But the biggie is the inward moving rotor will not have enough energy to cause the stuck rotor to break free.

I suggest Butch do some FEMM sims before he spends any more money.

Greg,
I think this will work pretty good !
you forget the forcefull acceleration the free rotor
gets then it enters the magnet array ! This will
build up a very strong kinetic energy gain
of the free rotor and hit the stuck rotor real
hard and will free it.
At higher RPMs probably both rotors will never be stuck and
just rotate over the sticky spot, cause they have so much kinetic energy
in them.
I also depends on the load placed onto the rotor axis.
