Hello, (This work was done 05.Dec.2007)
I've almost finished the steel construction part. The base was made 1000 x 1000 mm. Here are some pictures of how I continued construction::
All square tubes that go toward the apex need to be cut at a 45? angle. So I measured the diagonal of the tube:

Out of experience I know that I should cut more just to be on the safe side, so I used the measurement 27mm instead of 26.4mm.

I took my angle grinder and cut the 45? angle:

A 45? angle was cut on both sides of the square tubes:

I found the center of the base and drilled a hole in the wood to support my 3/8 inch pluming pipe.

As I suspected, the measurement 27mm instead of 26.4mm worked great. Only problem now is that the center pipe (17mm) is smaller than the diagonal of the square pipes (26.4mm).

This is why we need to cut the ears off of the 45? angle on the square tubes. Don't cut too much! You can always cut more if needed.

Now we need 2 more pipes and the jigsaw puzzle will be complete.

Finished pyramid. I was surprised that the base stayed exactly square. Was I just lucky? I don't know.

Here's how the top looks. I must say that we really shouldn't make a big fuss out of all the mathematics. Just DO IT and everything will fall into place.

Hello everybody, (this work was done 06.Dec.2007)
Today I colored my frame with black spray paint.
Then I made 3 of the sides out of a Rigips plate. I screwed the plaster plates onto the frame with 6 screws on each plate.
