I've heard conflicting reports. I guess the better question is: is the energy that's needed to create a magnet more than what you can extract from it overtime?
I am intrigued by magnet motors, but if the answer to this question is yes, I don't see the point in continuing to research this area.
So if it could run for 100 years... and then it lost a little strength it would that not be worth it?

In normal use you loose 5-10% of strength in a 100 years. More like 5%.
