A 100% Newman machine would be powered by back emf spikes. You will need many turns AND an larger coil diameter. Newman machines can be as light as 4 pounds, but at a small size, you will need to use a thinner wire. Personally I do not recommend any thinner than AWG 28 because of the inconvenience of obtaining higher voltages with AA batteries, but that's just me. The key is to store the largest magnetic field with the smallest current for a given supplied voltage. You will need a LONG wire, whatever the wire diameter, in order to get significant back emf vs. input.  You will need several miles of wire if you wish to run it off the back spike like Newman does.
