Title: Twin Rotor Bedini Motor
Post by: jonnydavro on July 05, 2008, 06:58:24 AM
Hi,Ive been lurking on this forum for a while now but i would like to share with you a motor I have built. It is a twin rotor Bedini motor which utilises both poles off the coil.1 rotor has north facing magnets, the second south facing. When started both rotors sync up and run at the same speed. The interesting thing is the current draw is the same for two rotors as it is for one so essentially you are getting double the work for the same input.I am sure there are better motor builders amongst this community who might be able to develop this idea to achieve all our goals.
Here is a video off it running and a pic.

I am also trying two build a twin rotor spiral motor and will post details if i get it going.

Great work, I think its a winner using this method since you use 100% of the coil instead of 50% of it.

Hello! Nice work!!

Is there a change of speed between the 1 rotor version and 2 rotor version?

If the speed is the same, then you got a winner, because you are generating twice the kinetic energy with the same current draw.

Really interesting!!!

HI ChileanOne,In answer to your question, one rotor runs at exactly the same speed as when two are running drawing the same current.

Well Jonny, you have a very interesting contraption over there.

What are you using to power them?

Hi ChilianOne,In the video i am using an old 12v car battery that has sat in my shed for three years as the primary and an old motorbike battery is charging but i now run it on 9v pp3 batteries. The circuit is standard Bedini.

Hi,Done some testing on the motor today,I think it's looking promising, what do you think?.
Anybody else tried this?
If you've already got a Bedini motor, just make another rotor, identical to the one you have already have but with reversed polarities and try it,anyway here's a video off some tests i did today with smaller rotors (mini cd's) and some pictures.

Hi,Just an update.Iv'e  now tried connecting the 2 rotors via a band to use the combined torque off the rotors. My next step will be to add a small stepper motor as a generator.Heres a video and a pic.

This also make you think about also having several rotors stacked on each other each turning their own little motor. I'm curious what kind of impact that would have. Need to use that coil to the fullest  ;D.

jonnydavro, good job. Now place magnets close to the ones you have and fire the coil on the gap between them. You will find that you get even more torque as well as a longer throw. It will not require any more power then you are already using but yet you will achieve a faster rotation speed with a higher torque rating.

Keep up the good work.
