Title: electro magnet coil with a permanent magnet core?
Post by: Tinshin on July 19, 2008, 07:11:29 PM
Try to follow me on this one, I coiled some number 22 enamel coated wire around a 1/4th inch by 1/4th inch neo magnet then energized the coil with a double A battery, (1.5v like no amps). it smoked the wire in less then 30 seconds. I do not have the instrumentation required to know if it helps or hinders the permanent magnet's own magnetic field, if anyone is willing to release any neat info on that pls let me know. All I know for a fact is that it burns the wires out pretty fast. Any scientific info on what happens when you energize a coil on a neo magnet would be super helpfull!

you must use some hundrets winding 1,5 or 3 volts.

even if uses soft iron OR magnet cores within this

neat idea a double a battery can put out like 1 amp at full draw try using bigger wire like #14 or use a pot to lower the input
tell us what happens if you do

Sorry, been a while since I checked my e-mail, just realised today that someone had replyed. The tiny neo magnets I have can only hold at max 20 coils, and it is extreamly difficult to coil since the magnets are so tiny.
