Title: perpetual motion idea
Post by: TheKingOfKool on September 19, 2008, 06:12:00 AM
imagine a wheel with 3 magnets in the shape of a piece sign. but instead of just 3 magnets there's also two pieces of wood. So the first magnet is wood, wood, magnet. the second is wood, magnet, wood. the third is magnet, wood, wood. attached to each tri-section of the wheel is a string that goes up and over and to the left of the wheel. the string hangs over a pulley and at the other end is another magnet. that magnet pulls the magnet of the wheel and as the wheel turns the string lifts up pulling the magnet up with it pulling the wheel. as it does that one of the other strings drops down pulling on the next magnet of the wheel. does anybody think this would work?

Would not work according to most the loss in friction from the string would not allow the motion to continue on forever...

Good luck I say if it hasnt been tried how can you really know for sure but. This is what you will be told.

Thanks for posting for TheKingOfKool.

Now for the evaluation. It is an interesting approach, but you will have to make your device in a form of a crank shaft to keep from crossing each arm. Now it looks like you will even out in 3 parts and to pull the top one down from the lift will take allot more power. You still have a start but you are going to have to figure how to get past the problem. So look at it as if it were broke and see what it will take to fix it.

This is my best advice for now. Good Luck!
