Title: About a flyback transformer?
Post by: Magnethos on September 25, 2008, 06:24:30 PM
I have found a color TV in the street and Im searching the flyback transformer. I have just read that flybacks are only in black and white TV. True or not?

Not true.  They all have also a flyback transformer.  See this chassis http://www.allproducts.com.tw/manufacture98/szharma/product2.jpg

The flyback transformer is just exactly in the upper right corner. You must find similar one in your find.

PS  Of course tv sets with traditional CRT tube that I mainly mean,  LCD, TFT types are a different story.

Be careful pulling off the HV Lead from the CRT. The picture tube stores residual High Voltage, enough that you can get zapped.
Attach a clip lead to the CRT Mask or any other Ground and the other end to an insulated Screwdriver and poke it underneath the Rubber Cap on the CRT Anode you might or might not hear a snap. You can now safely squeeze the Rubbercap  decompressing the clips inside..
Maybe just to be safe, as you obviously want to discard the CRT you should inflate it by breaking off the little Glass tit at the end under the Plastic socket Guide.
It will hiss which is normal , but its the only safe way to do it close up. If you dont you or someone else could be in trouble if you simply throw it into the Garbage.
It will implode with big chunks of glass flying all over .Wouldn't like to see someone getting hurt

Dear Pese,

I found and chose the TV chassis picture from this page: http://www.allproducts.com.tw/manufacture98/szharma/product2.html  This is a Chinese tv receiver manufacturer.

So it is surely a television receiver chassis, you can see the cabel tv tuner in the upper left corner of the picture (the metal rectangular box with the antenna socket). And if you study the tv chassis features, there is no PC input mentioned.

Respectfully
Gyula

I have tended to wrap the end in a plastic bag, and smack it with a hammer, wearing
googles or glasses and keeping my eyes closed.

Don't forget that there is a toroid under that copper winding item stuck to the back of
the tube. On day, it might come in handy.

Possible you have right.
i see so fast, that nothing is on board.
Minimum on elecronic parts.
Possible the "smal part left sid on Top , is the "antenna" tuner
(to receive TV prigrams , but the usual other parts i cant see.

The Transformer (fly-back)  to power the CRT ist nearby the sam working in Monitors aswell in TV
Pese

Also it is right , taht the Picture Tube store the High voltages (by the capacity frim the glasbody
inner shilding to outer-back) shilding. It store anly over some houres...
I habe become also burning little holes in skin from them. No more problems!  If your health-conditions
are OK , you will not die  :-)

Sorry Paul but I worked for three Consumer Manufacturer and as I quoted in my post this is the ONLY industry Standard to Evacuate a Picture tube, which does not lend itself to accidents. Not saying that you can't get way with it doing it your way , but someone else may not and only you can be blamed for the bad advise. Play it Safe! besides you need only a pair of pliers
Try it sometimes you might agree with me then.I have done 100 or more that way ,no accidents!
