Title: Magnetic Gear
Post by: khabe on October 12, 2008, 09:04:44 AM
This in not a overunity at all but anyway -
Somebody tried this magnetic gear http://www.infolytica.com/en/coolstuff/ex0106/    ????????????????????????????????????
I spent yesterday evening and Sunday morning today for tiny version, tested now and ... fairly disappointed  >:(
When all parts assembled together then yes -  gear effect works, ratio as described ca 5.5:1 ... but ... very hard (!!!) cogging  :'(
Stator with only inner or only outer rotor runs with low cogging.
Dimensions:
Outer rotor  OD 34.12mm , ID 30.00 mm nickel-iron, bearings thin section 25 x 20 x 4 , 44 poles, magnets  1.8 x 1.8 x 20 mm N48H
Inner rotor 8 pole magnets curved  OD 18mm , ID 14mm x 20mm, N50 , 6mm shaft, flanged bearings 12/6/4 ...
Stator machined from glued together Micrometals 1" mix26 cores, 1.0 mm glass fiber laminations between each 26 tooth ...
Firstly air-gap was smaller, I turned it from inner and outer surfaces of composite Stator ... when bigger airgap then better but ...
Yeah, but common gear is still much better  ::)
