Title: How to *avoid* producing Hydrogen
Post by: RAM on November 02, 2008, 06:05:39 PM
Hi,

I have been looking into alkaline batteries and how to recharge them for practical use. One of the problems appears to be a buildup of hydrogen; the reduction potential of the zinc ion Zn2+ + 2eâˆ' -> Zn is lower than hydrogen 2H+ + 2eâˆ' ->H2.

So, I was wondering, who would know more about hydrogen than the people trying to make it?

Maybe, in the countless experiences done in this field someone had the frustrating result of knowing how to avoid making hydrogen  :P.

It’s always like this… Once in my university we had two groups making microstrip circuits, one was an oscillator and another had to be an amplifier. The first group could not get his circuit to oscillate; it worked only as an amplifier: The second group could not get rid of the oscillations  ;D.

Thanks,
