I was watching some youtube videos of Farnsworth Fusors in action and was wondering of ways to increase the overall efficiency.
I'll assume everyone is up to speed on the general workings of a fusor.

Take the outer electrode grid and replace it with more of a honeycomb shape. Leave the center electrode as-is. Now, the fusor should have a combined force of the 'lifter', ion wind, and the generic electrostatic charge that a fusor normally uses.
Might that provide an order of magnitude increase in efficiency, or are there other forces at work that would cancel any gain?
