Hello,
I live in Canada and have been trying to obtain Mercury and Bismuth for experiments with toroidal coils. So far, I have not been able get hold of Mercury or Bismuth here at all, the only companies that ship Bismuth here are extremely overpriced >:( .
Mercury can be found in some switches, especially switches from older thermostats. I have a very tight budget, so if you happen to have or know of someone, or some place that has a lot of these switches or even trashed thermometers I would love to hear from you 8)
Please PM me.
Thanks :)
I have succesfully bought bismuth from ebay

I can't point you in any right direction, but I recommend you be careful: You're in Canada.
Does Canada have anything like the American Homeland Security.
If you can buy something in large enough lot batches, you might end up on someone's *list*. :( :o ::) :-[

list....LIST? Magpie don't need no stinking lists.....
He's making his own list.
He should go to Hutchinsons house and they can do a marvel team up.
Being's how they're both in Canada and all.

It wasn't mentioned, but for toroid's, aren't pure alloyed metals needed? Paint pigment(s) aren't in that form, if they're required that way.
I think this is an issue for commercial factories or foundries.
