These ooligan fish might be a new source of oil for all of us. When dried, the 'candle fish' contains so much oil that it will literally burn as a candle. Which brings to me to this half backed idea that these pacific coast fish, if bred in captivity or in ocean spawning facilities, might be good sources of natural oils as well as a buttress to the waning stream populations.
They're also a source of food.
SO would you rather your bio-diesel engine rather run smelt or peanut oil? ..some buses around town already smell like urea.
