Title: Make a magnet instable?
Post by: turniton on March 08, 2009, 04:50:19 PM

For years i had a simple idea, which was to somehow make a magnet instable and floating above other magnets. i thought many a time about using chemistry to change the magnets propertys such that in no position it could become stable.  then just put coils around it and tap off the magnetic field.

any ideas?

why would you have to  have it floating above other magnets?  If you could make it unstable so the fields were in constant change you could draw energy from it with coils around it.  Have no idea how that would be done or if it's even possible.

Take a look at Semi-conductor Magnets or Spintronics.  They're targeting this towards computing, but I say it could also be used for OU, if it is manufactured differently.  This allows a magnet to switch between being a magnet and a non-magnet.

well, i was thinking at the time "least resistance", but yes, an oscillating  magnet would be an oscillating  magnetic field, so what the sense.

Magnetic bearings are pretty cool ::)

hi everyone

you take a look about sparky sweet technology he use to recondition the magnets.

God bless

I have studied sparky sweet and magnetic bearings, both where excellent ideas. The idea that sparky had for conditioning however was strange, i read the original papers but there was a lot of missing information.

I did the bismuth levitation project, which was cool to see a magnet levitating in mid air.

My idea was more along the lines of finding some sort of chemical or material that would destabilized a magnet over time creating a varying magnetic field.

Try reading about Potomac Energy Project.

Eddie wants to build a MEG type device that uses YBCO superconductor that gets turned on and off by an infrared laser many times per second!

Hi everyone

I think we can make a switch that make reverse the polarity of an e-magnet   ::)

How would you use chemistry to make a magnet unstable?Never mind the floating(I can do that).
So maybe you use vibration to create a current?Triffid
