Hi Everybody,
And you thought that only We can play with magnets.
Looks like Bill likes them too.
Let's invite him to this forum.

Now he is going to start being a bully here too. Sounds like he is just laying down the ground
work so he can claim infringement on every angle. Piss on him.
thaelin
This could be significant ;)
Maybe he is trying to use his bully-pulpit to break suppression and finally get these devices out there? We don't live in a vacuum here, you know... It is quite possible that him and many other influential people want safe and pollution-free energy technologies released, too. Gates doesn't strike me as a knee jerk denier; lol. I'm sure he knows the skinny about these hidden and suppressed technologies.
It is another sign that goes towards the growing idea that many of us are coming to now, regarding the slow moving of the status quo towards major disclosure of F-E technologies within the next few years... Maybe even sooner ;) One way or another.. These things cannot remain hidden forever, the internet and International efforts have seen to that. What happened with cold fusion last month (a shocking reversal of 20 years of lies and denial in the US mainstream scientific community), may just be the begining... And was forced by other country's efforts in LENR that made the continued suppressions look idiotic and highly suspicious.
It all comes down to that old "Comfort Factor" again: When disclosure becomes more "comfortable" to those in power than suppression, then there is disclosure.
But that doesn't mean we should just wait meekly for it to come.. There is still tremendous opposition: Every month there are hundreds of Billions in easy profits made from the use of coal and oil as fuels; and every month the ecology suffers more because of it. The more we do here; the faster the disclosures, open university studies, and free-enterprise marketing of these techs will come ;)
If Gates is pushing this; then there is a better chance we will see some mass production and open marketing of this particular device / technology. Given a choice between him or G.E. or Exxon Mobile or G.M. who very likely hold similar Patents and just sit on them: Which would you choose to move forward with it? At least he appears to not be afraid of talking about it openly as some others are (... Pickens).
All it takes is ONE F-E DEVICE to be openly marketed: And the whole house of cards falls.
So we've got nothing to lose with this news, and possibly something very good to gain.
At the very least, we can now say that the greatest technology entrepreneur in history has declared with his actions that he is in the F-E corner ;)
I am the eternal optimist...but past behavior is usually a good indicator of future behavior.
Unfortunately he has shown that he is only interested in his own gain, as per his monopolizing past.
Ergo these patent apps.
I'm afraid we will still end up paying through the nose for energy...and still be under someone's foot.
Regards...
I have to side with Cap on this one.
Bill Gates is famous for some other things besides the worlds most popular operating system.
Found guilty (M$) of monopolization practices in the EU to stifle competition.
Bundling software for with the operating system to undermine the profit potential of another company which brought about the use of the term "netscaped" to exemplify the practice.
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/netscaped.asp
These past indicators of business practices do not lead me to believe that BG or M$ is going to do things that are beneficial to anyone but BG and M$ in regards to undiscovered energy sources or methods.
This is not a new idea.
I have to defend Mi$ter Microsoft here.
Why we tend to forget that he is really investing time and money into charity.
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx (http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx)
Maybe, just maybe investing in new "magnet" technology is to bring it to the masses for free :) (well almost for free)
Anyway. Does it really matter who will present such technology to the World, the fact it will become mainstream, this is what really counts.
Don't you think that making operating system popular, opened gates for other different OSes?
It's called competition. Everybody wins.
I don't mind to pay royalties if this thing will work.
I JUST WANT IT TO WORK !!!

Tracker
And if you thought windows was a shit performer, just wait until this one heats up and ..there's nothing left to generate electricity.
Charity = promoting a positive public image...while you are doing unsavory deeds behind the curtain.
The same old game is at work here...or else he would be satisfied with his imense wealth, and give the world free energy as a much needed gift to his fellow human.
I'm sorry, but I just cannot see any other reason for securing a patent other than profit.
Are you listening out there Bill...free us from this cycle of banker induced wage slavery.
Or is that something you endorse ?
Regards...
I agree with Cap about past behavior but, I like Bill and have great respect for what he has been able to accomplish. Having said that, based on past behavior I can foresee him selling this motor to the masses (you and me) and allowing them (us) the privilege of testing and debugging it for him. You have to admit that is genius.
Bill
And news are coming .... and coming

True enough Bill.
But it was the "pay to beta test my product that you will never own" (you'll just think you do, but the EULA says you are buying the right to use the OS but M$ can do anything with it or to it without your consent, and you can't.) that convinced me to cut my Win98 apron strings and go total GNU/linux.
That type of genius scares me almost as much as the amount of sensitive information worldwide that is entrusted to a closed source proprietary OS whose track record for security and vulnerability disclosure is historically not that exemplary.
Let's just say I like my energy ideas the same way I like my operating system; open source.
The peer review, testing, collaboration, and vulnerability fix speed of open source is just more "honest" and responsive.
If you don't like it, you can change it (if you have the skill). This is not an option w/ M$.
As to the B&M Gates foundation, what billionaire do you know that does NOT use charitable contributions for a sheltering tax dodge?
P.S. Bill, this was not solely directed @ you, and kudos on the Jule Thief thread!
Jeez! It is a shaker flashlight that runs off of fossil fuels and has a spark plug at each end.
He wants to generate electricity using fossil fuels and pollute the air in a more direct and cost effective way :)
It does sound like a good engine for HHO.
Bill Gatus of Borg does make mistakes. Anybody remember what 'NT' stood for originally?
The worst thing that ever hit this planet is the rich white guy.

@BEP
OK, I have to hear this one. NT..... now lets see. No Tricks? ;D Oh Oh... I got it. Net Tyrant.

Hi,
Story unfolds.
It makes perfect sense:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6243581.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6243581.stm)
Bill buys Ford, and gives first ,quasi magnetic motor driven car.
Good plan.

Tracker
@Thaelin
'NT' stood for network terminal. I had one of the first versions being used at work. The box clearly spelled out 'Network Terminal'. At the same time you had to install 3rd party software to make a DOS machine communicate outside of its own box. Bill was saying the 'Net was a passing fad.
'NT Server' is an oxymoron ;D To this day a web browser, email client and PC games are installed on WindBlows servers. They never figured it out. Now they are inventing shaker flashlight engines? Was RONCO and China listed on the patent?
@ Tracker
I'm not sure how you could have extrapolated BG buying Ford when the extent of the collaberation (according to the article) only goes as far as Ford using the new M$ "Sync" OS for hands-free automobile audio/telecommunication management.
Is there another article that would have given you reason to post what you did?
@ BEP
I had heard that it (NT) meant "new tchnology" signalling the departure from the DOS structure and from working with IBM on OS/2 (until the divorce) and then naimng it NT 3.5, but it's been forever since I've seen a box for it so I defer to you on this one.
Seems there are a couple other places out there on the inter-web that seem to have the same misconception as I about the meaning of NT so if I could please ask you which version box you saw that on I'd appreciate it.
Concerning the patent, If using regular fuel, I think it's need VERY well timed and force inducted intake phases to keep the reciprocal piston from slamming into the cylinder ends.
Thanks BEP for the insight. I have had to suffer from win 3.1 on and its all been a bad ride.
Them old BBS days. I have seen so many versions of "Exception Error 13" but its still the same.
Memory mis-management plain and simple.
That is what drove me to linux. Started with ver 1.25 and have used it every since.
thay
This motor has nothing to do with free energy. It is a combustion engine. However it tells me that they might have created a magnetic material that can withstand higher temperatures since the magnetic material is on the piston.
I don't recall the release number of the NT I spoke of but it was before the public sales started. At the time I was a beta tester for many things. I was not a beta tester for M$. The version I had then was installed by a local network vendor. I was left with the task of making it work for us.
We wound up staying with our *Nix variants until Novell had a good foothold. Many years of that with few problems. Then I left and the mass infection began. Glad I'm not working there now ;D
As for the engine....
Agreed on the magnet material. Must be some good change. Also wondering what the cylinder is made of. Must be ceramic.
The timing would be an issue. Also because travel time for the piston would change based upon electrical load.
FE? I doubt it. But wouldn't it be a kick if it fired HHO on one side (vacuum) and gasoline on the other (pressure) then switched? Best of both worlds!
I started with VAX/VMS then RedHat 1.13 and now prefer OpenBSD. My WindBlows OS is running under VMWare so I can shoot it in the head and start over again when it freaks out - yea -- an egghead :)
Perpetual memory management issues? Tell me about it!
