I just ran into this low budget movie called Primer about two garage inventors going through the process of inventing something and the repercussions of what they do with it when they succeed. Enjoy.

seems interesting; but the simultaneous talking is really annoying.
It was 'ok' for what it was.....in the same 'micro-niche' as Michael Rappaport's movie: 'Special'.
Check out: 'TimeRider'
Oldie but a goodie
I liked how there were no cops, no black helicopters. Just very private and realistic issues with the inventors. They also started out with the clear intent of commercializing whatever they end up inventing but end up keeping it to themselves and getting into trouble without affecting anyone else. A very realistic scenario and one I've always thought possible. I also liked how when they first stumble upon it, they quickly get worried about unknown radiations and enclose it. How many times have we gone through the same paranoia? It all seemed very familiar.
One thing I haven't seen yet is where hordes of would-be replicators around the world get on the internet and use forums to share information to try to replicate the device using scant data. ;D
Thanks for the other movies, TechStuf. I'll check two those out.

many thanks for posting the link
I watched the film last night in the early hours
the beginning of the film reminded me of this forum / experimenting and not sure what is happening
very entertaining and I recommend it
;D ;D ;D

I was only able to watch 31 minutes and 4 seconds of the video before it froze up on me.I backed it up twice but it only froze up again at the same spot. What I did not see in this video (up to this point)were wife and family demands on their personal energies and time.Things which would slow their progress even more.triffid

I liked their process too. Initially it's four guys working together on one project at a time in the garage. If the project doesn't work out, then it's the next guys turn to pick the next project. That way everyone's crazy idea gets a chance and the benefit of their combined efforts.
@triffid,
They were a little light on the emotional and relationship repercussions. But if you get a chance to see the rest you'll find it's hard enough just to track what's really going on. I'll have to watch it again to clarify a few things.

Lets watch a movie about someone who really started in their garage.Triffid
What about NASA....didn't they start in hitler's garage?
lol
Yes, it was Hitler who taught us the value of rockets.Lets hope someone doesn't go the same path with solar power. There are ways to make very hot solar collectors.Triffid
Yes,it took a madman named Hitler to teach us the value of rockets. Before Hitler it had been a toy for 2000 years.I hope solar does not have to take the same route.Yesterday on" Good Morning America" they baked store bought cookie dough on shiny cookie sheets inside a car on the dashboard for two hours. And two hours later, They ate cookies baked by the sun. They said they were good cookies.Triffid
