I made an practical experiment? to help the reasoning and I have something to say on the force that attracts the rotor in the Paul Sprain motor.
I constructed an electromagnet in (almost) form of U, with the bobbin involving the base and with the inclined lateral connecting rods for inside. In the center of this electromagnet, it enters and in parallel to the connecting rods, I placed a plastic straw with an iron nut that can run freely in axle formed for the straw. Feeding itself electromagnet, with DC or AC, the nut always move in direction to the extremities of the connecting rods of the electromagnet, and it remains there.
If it will not have the inclination of the connecting rods, or this inclination will be small, the nut is where it is.
Of this simple practical experiment, it concludes that the asymmetry (intensity greater in the extremities next) to the magnetic field is the responsible one for movement of the nut. The intensity of the force that acts in the nut, that we can to call lateral force, seems to be proportional to this asymmetry of the field. Movement seems to be sped up. We can play to hurl nut if interrupt feeding of the electromagnet before the nut reaches the extremity.
As we could quantify this force (lateral force) in the theory?
I carried through the Test of I hurl of Nut. It functioned as foreseen: the nut not more stop in the alignment of the extremities of connecting rods of the electromagnet if interrupting the feeding (before the nut reaching such extremities) and obtain to abandon the electromagnet. This happens exactly inclining the set (something around 40 degrees). The nut goes up and it moves away of the electromagnet for ones 3cm.
He would be correct to say that the magnetic field makes of nut one small magnet, and this interacts with the anti-symmetrical field in the interior of the electromagnet, trying to line up itself with the part strongest of the magnetic field?

The other pole of the magnet of the rotor can be used (the internal side of the rotor), the torque will duplicate.?
