I have enabled the RSS Feed again after having finally implemented a new
Website Firewall script.
Now if somebody makes too much traffic in a certain time,
he will automatically be banned to a 403 error page and will
not have access anymore.
I will also soon sell memberships to overunity.com
where you will have no more advertisement and can
enable again your avatar and can lock up your
own threads, so only you can post in your own thread.
(Maybe also delete other users comments in your own
threads, but this is an option I am still pondering about,
if this makes sense.. what is your view about this ?)
I will probably sell these memberships in 6 months and 12 months
durations, but prices are not set yet.
I will probably sell them on Ebay USA and Ebay Germany,
so if you are familar with buying via Ebay, then
it will be no problem for you buying a membership
for overunity.com.
The money from it will go into keeping overunity.com running
and buying new hardware for new experiments and I will
also setup maybe a help fond to finance some experiments
from other members.
So let me know, what is your view about it ?

Yes, if abusers try to download the whole forum or if they try to
bring the forum down with too much traffic, they will be automatically
blocked.
This is a really great script a programmer friend of mine has
done and we are thinking of selling it or give it out for free for
a backlink or something simular someday ...
I will not state how many pages you can call up on
overunity.com before you are blocked, but it is reasonable,
so that every user, who is just surfing the normal way will
not get blocked, but those, that try to abuse it will get
blocked easily.
This way I can now also enable RSS Feeds without
any problems cause these are also watched.

When you say banned, do you mean permanently banned or a time related ban (12 or 24 hours)?
And why are you banning to begin with?
If you are going to start permanently banning IPs from the site many people will stop coming here...

It will be a time related ban.
For how long I will keep secret, so the
abusers will not know it...
I still must see, what the abusers are doing over here
and the script will log it.
Normal surfers, who are just reading and downloading
a few files over here or are posting will not be banned at all.
The script only catches the bad guys, who try to abuse the forum
and try to slow it down.

The script is now running already about 20 hours and
it is working fine.
The last 20 hours there were no abusers, so
the script did not block any IP number yet.
The database-server where overunity.com
is running on, is a bit slow in this moment and
I must move it to a different SQL server soon,
so it will be faster again.
But so far the forum runs pretty stable.
