I searched high and low on google for an answer to this question but can't find anything that will explain.
Is the secondary of a tesla coil always at 1/4 wave lenght IF it is properly tuned and in resonance with the primary?? To rephrase this, at 1/4 wave resonance the very top of the TC secondary will have the most voltage, while the bottom of the secondary should have 0volts, do I have to calculate a certain amount of wire for the secondary, or some other procedure to ensure 1/4 wave resonance??
I just want to make sure that when I build(this will be my 2nd TC), that I do have exactly 1/4 wave. Thanks for helping a novice. Fern

Well, you could speculate:
That a coil tuned for 1/4 resonance, may infact contain enough wire length for full wave length, ... the circumference of the loop will be proportional.
Therefore, if you wanted X number of turns, then you would simply take the full wave length into account, the diameter of the coil would be dependent on how many turns you want.
This is a purely proportional perspective, it may not in fact make any sense what so ever.
