Title: Full rotational pendulum...
Post by: iacob alex on January 11, 2010, 01:22:19 PM

...is a new concept (you can see on net...)for the extraction of energy from sea waves.

The concept is based on the conversion of vertical motion, into rotational motion,by means of a parametric pendulum operating in full rotational mode.

The idea is to mount the pendulum pivot, above a floating structure, which will oscillate in the vertical plane,in response to sea waves excitations.

The  vertical oscillations of the structure will generate the pendulum's rotational motion, providing an useful torque.

A parametric oscillator,is a harmonic oscillator, whose parameters oscillates in time: a child on a swing, where periodically changing the child's center of gravity, causes the swing to oscillate.

The varying of parameters drives the system, this is the  idea of a simple parametric pendulum.

   Why this topic?

It's a plain image,so to simplify a possible first step for a PM.

  All the best! / Alex

....."on paper" and his control , you can see at :  www.evert.de/eft410e.htm
If we can play continuous rotational pendulum , due to an oscillatory floating  fulcrum , why not to apply the same idea ( "on the waves" ) for gravity fall / unbalance ?!
