The Swinging Gym http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyKRF6SH3eU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyKRF6SH3eU)inspired me to draw a wheel with a centre of mass change on the upward direction using a saddle with permanent magnets.
Ideas and improvements will lead for a prototype that everybody is invited to do.
The damping when the sliding magnet reaches the repulsion saddle will change the period?

The repulsion field closer to the sliding magnet and at contact, with a weaker field. This may reduce damping.
Other set up is using a magnetic shield as NU-Metal and a smaller fixed magnet in the arm.
