I did have a second thought about my reply. Because there is basicly two options to align the magnets. In the way you have done it, your're absolutely right. But if N was up and S was down, I would have been right. But in your drawing N or S is aligned towards the ferro fluid. Stupid me doesn't think twice before I reply. Well, shit happens, but I had at least 50% wrong and right

I’m not going to tell you where to find it, but if you google me and look around you can find where I post a very embarrassingly inaccurate description of the First Law of Thermodynamics.  I wish the internet had a delete key.

I think I know what you were getting at.  I’ve seen where a piece of metal in the shape of a C is placed around a single magnet and the lines of flux are pulled in.  And I’m guessing that ferrofluids could be arranged to do something like this too.

I’ve been having trouble with my MK2s.  My ferrofluid has sat around (in the heat of phoenix) for about six months, and it doesn’t drip so good; so I’m not able to get them going to then put more and more of these underwater.  But I’m workin’ on it.
