Can the TREC be a variation of a reverse Tesla type coil?

The TREC, if you read the posts..has morphed from a coil and capacitor (Tank circuit) and tuning coils..into some complex array of bifilar coils, regular coils, oscillators. Maybe it's tapping thunderstorm harmonics, electrostatic potential( in dry areas of the country only) or coupled to the 60 Hz power lines nearby. Maybe the design is so easy, once seen, he won't describe it at all!

Perhaps I should be more blunt.

It has nothing to do with how the TREC has evolved. The POINT is Lawrence CANNOT BE TRUSTED.

In view of the above information, it is HIGHLY doubtful he ever had a working model.

I did a lot of research on the TREC some years ago and here's what stopped me from pursuing the project any further.
Lawrence has never posted any pictures nor given specific details as to how to build the TREC.

Using a variation of Plauson's Patent.with a tank circuit, spark gaps, step down transformers do you think a TREC type device can be made and tested to light more than a few LEDs?

I have difficulty testing any device like this because the trees around my house are very tall, I'm at the bottom of an electrostatic well so to speak.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from experimenting with the concept of the TREC. It's a great concept.

I just don't feel Lawrence ever had a working model. I spend around a year trying to replicate it before I read the post about Barry Theodore's visit. That pretty much destroyed any belief in Lawrence.

Your thinking of replacing the balloons with the TREC spirals?

I think your mixing two different principles.
The TREC creates an ionized path to the ionosphere.
Paulson take advantage of the electrostatic field and voltage differential above the earth surface.

That makes me think about Tesla patent 685,957 - APPARATUS FOR THE UTILIZATION OF RADIANT ENERGY

I tried a few simple experiments using an elevated plate and a 51,000 uF cap and it did slowly charge the cap. I intended to try the same experiment again using a small high voltage cap thinking the charge rate should be much faster but I never got around to it. The charge rate seems to be directly related to the size of the plate and the sun - maybe UV radiation level.

Also the patent states the plate should be insulated but mine was not. It was a simple aluminum plate about 1 foot square.

I tried a flat plate collector 18"x 24" aluminum sheet between two plexiglass sheets sealed with silicone sealant. This was hooked to a 35v 32,000 mfd cap. I tried a 3kv .002pfd cap also. I was not happy about the charge rate either.

The other design was somewhat based on Lawrence's TREC description, 20 inch flat spiral hooked up to various caps. I tried different air-coil tuners(step down air transformer). !0' post with the antenna on top. As mentioned in my other post I have very tall trees nearby..I think they rob my electrostatic field!
