i just guessing here he used a really small dc motor ;D 8) :P

the kind you find in small toys but you can bet it was a verry high speed motor

why a motor ....   you can answer that one....

oh how about the magnet he places on it .....

just an on and off switch ....   but how might that work?

well i know if you use a relay  and an external magnet....   it will vibrate or activate the relay  when placed in the right place.... 8)

well i did have a few of thease ...  i got form the liquaditors  un fortunatlly i butnt em out ...

but let me tell you this some of them could push 15 -20 000 rpm :o :o

1 more thing wile im at it  they are tiny...   meaning you would never even know it was there.....

the ones i had were smaller then the eraser on a pencil and bout 3/4" long
