SS wire questions

Consider electrical resistance as the source of your heat. Stainless plates are much better than wire. Food grade stainless is best since it has a high nickel content and nickel is the inert (fairly) element here. Also nickel can provide some catalyst effect as well.

sorry i had to delete the picture for "safety" reasons. The funny thing about this cell is im getting resistance on the opposite wires when they ARE not touching and not in the water. I made a totally new one and made sure nothing was touching. Ill have to take a picture of this new one. I made it so it would fit into a large sized mason jar. Still the same thing. Actually on a side note. The first time i hooked it up in water i noticed that it produced bubbles almost to half way down. took it out, cleaned it off and tried again and now only the top 5-7 wraps of wire is doing anything. Whats got me puzzled is why im getting the resistance on the opposite wires  that are not touching. Anyone have an idea?
